Barbara E Livingston, D.MIN., LMHC, DipACLM
Meet Dr. Livingston
My practice integrates psychotherapy and physical activity. The benefits of consistent physical activity—particularly as it relates to mood, motivation, and brain function have been widely researched and proven highly effective in treating depression, anxiety, grief, weight, and motivational issues.
My clients are often very pleased and surprised by the results of treatment that includes safe, therapist-supported exercise as a prescriptive part of their therapy. It helps them make healthy lifestyle changes that are lasting.
My training in psychodynamic, CBT, coaching, and spiritual practice enable me to listen carefully to what you need. It also helps me pinpoint the experiences and relationships in your life that may be underlying—and in many cases—significant factors.
My goal is to facilitate a path to overall health and wellbeing by paying careful attention to the intersection of the emotional, physical and spiritual aspects of your life.
I am a psychotherapist, athlete, and lifetime food enthusiast with a doctorate from Boston University. I am a fully-licensed Mental Health Counselor. My certification as a CHEF Coach (Culinary Health Education Fundamentals) is from the Institute of Lifestyle Medicine at Harvard University. My career has been dedicated to helping people create positive and lasting changes in their lives for over 20 years.
As a CHEF coach, I collaborate with clients to help address preventable, chronic medical conditions by developing a personalized food plan. My goal is to enable my clients to develop sustainable culinary changes by teaching them how to make good food choices and cook with confidence—using fresh, local ingredients.
My approach to psychotherapy focuses on helping people build emotional and physical health through self-awareness, regular physical activity, nutritious (and delicious food) and a healthy, happy lifestyle!
